Many preparatory schools require children to take a written exam prior to the desired entry year. Although the competition isn’t as fierce as the 11+, 13+ or 16+ there is still a lot of pressure on children at this young age. Some schools expect children to take exams as young as 4 years old. Many students have extra tuition from an early age as not many schools prepare students for these exams. Fleet Tutors’ 7/8+ tutors are sensitive to the fact that these children are young and they approach the tutoring in a very supporting way. Our private tutors can offer valuable guidance specifically for these styles of exam.
Fleet Tutors believe that 7/8+ tuition can only be successful if our private tutors have the relevant qualifications and experience. All of our private tutors are experienced in working with primary age children and able to make the learning fun as well as instructive. They will hold a good (2:1) relevant degree and/or have a teaching qualification recognised by the General Teaching Council.
All of our tutors have been fully vetted and will have a current DBS certificate (Disclosure and Barring Service). Previously known as a CRB, this is a document issued by the Home Office which vets applications for people who want to work with children and vulnerable people. We interview and obtain 2 references for every private tutor; one work reference and one character reference. Many of the work referees have worked with the tutor in a teaching environment so they can provide us with a valuable insight in to the way the tutor works with children. The character referee can also help us determine whether a tutor is suitable to work with children due to their characteristics.
